  • Dec 5, 6, and 18th Wine Dinners at the Boathouse – featuring wine respectively from Black Star, then Brys, and Bowers Harbor

  • Dec. 11 Grey Hare Inn proprietors Christmas Party – guests are invited to participate in this year’s “Grapes of Wreath” theme at no additional charge.

  • Dec 12 5 – 9p Black Star Farms Tastes Open House at the Village in Grand Traverse Commons from 5 – 9p.  Enjoy complimentary wine tasting and get creative with a paint your own wine stopper - a perfect stocking stuffer!   • Dec 20 – Metropolitan Opera Live at the State Theater 12n Thais by Massenet.

  • January 19-20 Winter Warmup at the Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula – enjoy mulled wine from a souvenir mug for $5; desserts, appetizers, and other local promotions from 12 – 5pm, followed by a bonfire at the Grey Hare Inn. Cross country skiing available through the inn’s vineyard.

  • January 10 Super Soups and Stews class at Chateau Chantal $125 p/p will teach basic techniques to make your own stock like the pros. The class will focus on such items as Tuscan wild mushroom soup, apple cheddar, and many more; while breakfast entrees at the Grey Hare will include an intermezzo course of a similar soup.

  • January 24 Handmade Pastas and Sauces class at Chateau Chantal $125 p/p where you’ll learn the traditional and modern techniques for making a variety of northern Italian fresh pastas, 12:30p – 5:30p. Guests at the Grey Hare will enjoy such Italian specialties as the Potato, Garlic, Fontina Cheese Strada that was a recent award winning recipe and homemade crostini.

  • January 30- Feb 1 Super Getaway Weekend – guests can choose between a package that will include dinner at a local sports bar to watch the Super Bowl or a women’s pamper package including a massage and nightly turndown chocolates.

  • Jan. 31 – Winemaker Dinner at Chateau Chantal , 6p – 9:30p , offers a 5 course gourmet meal paired with the winery’s award winning wines for $100 p/p. In conjunction with these dinners the vineyard manager at the Grey Hare offers personal escorted tours through the vineyard on snowshoes or cross country skis.

  • Feb. 7 – Pan Saute, Pan Sauce class at Chateau Chantal where you will break the mystery of dishes like Chicken Marsala and Saltimbocca with wine sauce at $125 p/p, 12:30 – 5:30p. Our guests will experience the elegance of a finely prepared Herbes de Provence cream sauce on the inn’s signature dish “Crepes du Nord”

  • Feb 7 Met Opera Live at the State Theater – Lucia di Lammermoor by Donizetti 1p

  • February 7,8 Leelanau Wineries Taste the Passion/Snowshoe Stomp. Snowshoe thru the vineyards and enjoy special wine pours, chocolate goodies and appetizers. Purchase tickets online at www.lpwine.com. Grey Hare Inn will also be offering snowshoe and cross-country skiing through the vineyards and orchard at the inn.

  • February 14-15 Romancing the Riesling at Old Mission Wineries showcasing a Riesling perfectly paired with a food offering in your $5 souvenir glass from 12 – 5p, and a special artistic presentation on Saturday. Breakfast at the Grey Hare will offer a similar pairing of wine poached fruit with cheese. Cross country skiing available through the inn’s vineyard and wooded trails at the Lighthouse park.

  • Feb. 20 and 27th Boathouse Wine Dinners featuring Bowers Harbor then Peninsula Cellars

  • Feb. 21 – I Like Meat class at Chateau Chantal $125 p/p to have an opportunity to grill the meat cutter and find out why it’s better to shop at a butcher for your meat, 12:30p – 5:30p. To compliment but contrast with the emphasis on meat this weekend, the Grey Hare will offer a completely vegetarian option to our regular breakfasts

  • March 7 – I Like Fish class at Chateau Chantal $125 p/p to grace the table and dine on dishes such as grilled stuffed trout, Italian tuna with roasted red bell pepper sauce. On this weekend the breakfast option at the Grey Hare will include “Scarborough Fair Tuna Crepes” substituting creamed tuna with parsley,sage, rosemary and time for the regular inn specialty crepes.

  • March Met Opera Live Simulcast at the State Theater – 7th Madame Butterfly by Puccini, and the 21st La Sonnambula by Bellini 1p

  • Mar. 13,20 Wine Dinner at the Boathouse featuring wines from Brys Estate then Bowers Harbor Wineries

  • March 15 Rich Ridenour’s Big Band Blast with the TSO at Lars Hockstad 3pm. Grey Hare Inn guests will receive complimentary tickets to Rich’s rocking of the rafters with his energetic salute to the Big Band greats. And weekend guests will received a discounted Sunday night stay-over rate in order to attend.

  • March 21 What We Do for Flavor class at Chateau Chantal at $125 p/p from 12:30p to 5:30p . The discovery of umami – the Japanese term for a fifth taste, and the ten secrets to developing big flavor.

  • March 28 Winemaker Dinner at Chateau Chantal, 6p – 9:30p offers a night out with winemaker Mark Johnson paired with Chantal’s wines, $100 p/p

  • April 4 Dishes From All Around France Class at Chateau Chantal. France is the mother lode of techniques and fine cooking with techniques you’ll surprise your own houseguests with such as Souffle, oeufs meurette and so much more, $125 p/p.. In conjunction with participation in this class the Grey Hare Inn will provide a complimentary copy of either the inn’s recipe book, “A Taste of Four Seasons” or a copy of the DeCamp’s “Dining In, Dining Out” restaurant and recipe guide to Northern Michigan to guests staying at the inn.

  • April 18 (and May 2) Tuscan Spring Dishes class at Chateau Chantal to learn the luscious and lively cuisine of Italy where Chef Allen taught and learned many dishes such as lemon biscotti and zabaglione with strawberries, $125 p/p, 12:30p – 5:30p. The Grey Hare will be serving guests a delicious dish of strawberries with a marscapone whipped cream and almond biscottis.

  • April 19 Mahler’s Resurrection with the Traverse Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Kevin Rhodes; with Lynne Church,soprano, Jayne Sleder, mezzo-soprano, and the Traverse Symphony Chorus, NMC Chorale & Chamber Singers directed by Mark Puchala 3p. Guests at the Grey Hare Inn over the weekend will receive complimentary tickets plus a discounted Sunday night stay-over rate

  • April 25 Wine Immersion Seminar at Chateau Chantal 11am – 9:30p $135 p/p – an all day event providing an excellent overview of winemaking, viticulture, and food/wine pairing including lunch and dinner and learning materials. Reservations are required for all classes but book this one particularly early as it continues to be one of the most popular culinary events. To complete your wine immersion breakfasts at the Grey Hare Inn this weekend will feature grape related menus.

  • May 2,3 Spring Sip and Savor at Leelanau Wineries. Grey Hare Inn will be offering morel hunting and dandelion wine making classes in conjunction with this fun annual event

  • May 16,17 Blossom Days on Old Mission – Peninsula wineries offer special tastings and the inn offers tours of their boutique vineyard along with morel hunting and dandelion wine making discussions and panoramic cherry orchard views.

  • August 22 Traverse City Wine and Art Festival The inaugural Traverse City Wine & Art Festival will be a celebration of the wines, art, music and food of the Grand Traverse region. Wineries in attendance will present their wines using the beautiful grounds of the Village at Grand Traverse Commons as a backdrop. The event will feature art displays from regional artists and organizations working in all manner of media. It will also highlight foods from our area and endeavor wherever possible to do things in a green and sustainable manner. As afternoon turns to evening, attendees will experience an exciting concert that features a variety of musicians from our region.

  • September 5th -Womp in the Park – old mission wineries and restaurants outdoors.

  • September 5, and 12 Grey Hare Inn Annual Harvest Stomp Parties, 4p – 6p Experience Old World Grape Harvest by hand picking and de-stemming grapes and then stomping them into juice with your feet. Tasting of the wine made from the inn’s grapes at Peninsula Cellars and local produce hors d’oeuvres sampling are included in the $35 per person charge. Advance Reservations required and private events of 10 persons or more can be arranged for different times and dates.

April 25 – Ann Arbor Wine Fest at Art Center

May 21 Great Lakes Great Wine Walk Around Tasting 6:30p – 9:30p Oakland Community College – sample more than 500 wines , including ice wines and compare your palate with the judges from the Great Lakes Great Wine Competition.
